Delete your account

Deleting your account removes your profile, your posts, your activities, your messages and your visa records from our systems. It is permanent and we cannot undo it.

Fastest: from inside the app

In-app: Profile > Account > Delete account.

We will complete the deletion within 30 days and confirm by email.

If you cannot get into the app

This sends an account deletion request to our team. We will remove your data within 30 days and confirm by email.

Use the email you registered with. If you're unsure which address that is, check your welcome email from Farang.

The button turns on once the address above is a valid email and the box is ticked.

What gets deleted

Everything the account holds on our servers: your email and sign-in credential, your profile and photo, your posts, replies and votes, the groups you created or joined, your activities and RSVPs, your direct messages, and the reports and blocks on your account. If you chose to sync your visa type and arrival date to the account, that goes too.

The solo tools never stored anything with us in the first place. Your saved phrases, favourite places, map preferences, app colour and the visa countdown itself live on your iPhone only, so there is nothing on our side to delete. Removing the app removes them instantly. This split is set out in Privacy Policy sections 2 and 3.

What does not

Messages other people have already received stay in their own chats, in the same way an email you have sent stays in the recipient's inbox.

A Farang Pro subscription is billed by Apple and is not cancelled by deleting your account. Cancel it separately in iOS Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Farang. Deleting the account first does not stop the billing.

Anonymised aggregate statistics, such as total post counts, may be kept for service analytics. They are not linked to you.

If the account was deleted after a serious Terms violation, a one-way hashed identifier may be kept to stop the same person re-registering. It cannot be used to reconstruct anything about you. Both of these are set out in Privacy Policy section 9.

Deleting the app on its own removes the data stored on your device, but it does not delete your account on our servers. To remove your account and community data, use one of the methods above.
